Dear Adventurers,

The flag of war is fluttering high in Midgard! War of the Chosen (W.O.C) S2 is about to kick off with a revamped mechanism in Ragnarok X: Next Generation!

Brand-new themes and battlefield maps bring about unprecedented PvP experience!

Battle preparations and mechanism are optimized thoroughly for boundless strategic possibilities!

More optimized elements are to offer an overall improvement to your PvP experience!

Season Theme Updated

✦ Following the Thor theme in the previous season, you will be immersed in the Apollo theme in W.O.C S2. The overall design, including scene setting, costumes, and mounts, will evolve around the new theme.

Qualification

✦ Only the ROX Global adventurers can register for the event.

✦ No actions that violate ROX Global's operational policies, infringe upon others' rights, or harm public order and good morals.

✦ Any adventurer can only use one account in the event.

✦ The official staff of ROX Global cannot register for the event.

✦ Your character's base level must reach Lv.45 and the World Level of the server the character is in must reach Lv.45.

Registration Rules

✦ After the W.O.C is updated, adventurers can register for the event through Contest Hall > Registration during the preparation phase.

✦ Only 1 character under an account can be registered for the event. Once registration is complete, you cannot change the character.

✦ You must create a party or join other adventurers' parties. A character must either create 1 party or join 1 party.

✦ A party must consist of 5 to 8 adventurers. When a party has more than five members, it can be regarded as having substitute adventurers. Substitute adventurers share the competition results with the other members of their party.

✦ All members in a party must be from the same server.

Match Mode

✦ This season features a party vs party mode.

✦ Two parties fight in a 5 vs 5 format. Starting from the qualifiers, the results are determined by the battle points of the two parties. The side with higher points wins unless a party surrenders.

✦ Qualifiers, Round of 32, and Round of 16 will adopt a Best-of-Three (BO3) format. Starting from the Round of 8, the match proceeds with a Best-of-Five (BO5) format.

✦ In Round of 32 and Round of 16, the losers are eliminated immediately. Starting from the Round of 8, the winners advance to the next round and the losers are degraded to the Losers Bracket and compete again.

✦ After the second round of the double-elimination stage, parties defeated in the Winners Bracket will be degraded to the Losers Bracket in the other division. Here's an example:

Winners Bracket

1st Division: A VS C

2nd Division: E VS H

Losers Bracket

1st Division: B VS D

2nd Division: F VS G

Assuming the left-side parties in each match win and the right-side parties lose, the updated brackets will be as follows:

Winners Bracket: A VS E

Losers Bracket

1st Division: B VS H

2nd Division: F VS C

Progression

✦ The tournament consists of qualifiers, elimination matches and finals.

✦ In the qualifiers stage, you can battle through the designated match time and earn points. The top 32 adventurers will advance to the elimination matches.

✦ In the elimination match stage, the winners will advance to the next round in these matches: Round of 32, Round of 16, Winner Advancement Match, Loser Elimination Match.

✦ Starting from the Round of 8, the Double Elimination format is adopted, which means the winner advances to the next round while the loser is degraded to the Loser Elimination Match. The Winner Advancement Match consists of Round of 8, Round of 4, Round of 2. The Loser Elimination Match consists of Losers Bracket Round 1, Losers Bracket Round 2, Losers Bracket Round 3 and Losers Bracket Round 4.

✦ This final match pits the Winners Bracket champion against the Losers Bracket champion in a Best-of-Five (BO5) series.

Rules

Qualifiers

✦ The Qualifiers will be played on a tournament server, where parties of 5 compete against opponents of similar scores.

✦ The matches are conducted in a Best-of-Three (BO3) format and award points.

✦ The top 32 parties by score at the end of the qualifiers will advance to the elimination matches.

✦ Scoring Rules:

If a party plays 0 games, it earns 0 points and will be excluded from the rankings, and therefore cannot obtain rank rewards.

Parties with 1 match played start with a base score of 1100 points, which changes based on the result of each game.

After each game, the change in each party's score is calculated based on their current score, game result, the highest possible points earned from each game, and anticipated points.

Tiers:

Scores range between 0 and 9,999, which means you cannot obtain points after your score reaches 9,999.

Special Scoring Rules:

Winning Streak: 10 extra points are awarded for achieving a 3-win streak. The streak counter is reset after that.

Losing Streak: 0 points are deducted for the 3rd loss in a 3-loss streak. The streak counter is reset after that.

Quit: If all members of a party quit a match before it ends, 50 points are deducted from the party.

Score Ranking Rules:

Parties are ranked by total points from high to low. Parties with a higher score advance to the next round.

If there is a tie in scores, the party that plays fewer games will be promoted.

If there is a tie in scores and games played, the party that is created earlier will be promoted.

Elimination Match

✦ Elimination Match consists of Round of 32, Round of 16, Winner Advancement Match, and Loser Elimination Match.

✦ Round of 32 and Round of 16 games play in a Best-of-Three (BO3) format to determine the top 8 parties. The losers are eliminated immediately.

✦ Starting from Round of 8, the games are played in a Best-of-Five (BO5) format. The winners in the round of 8, round of 4 and round of 2 will advance to the next round until a champion is determined, while the losers can compete each other in the losers bracket until a champion is determined.

Finals

✦ The two champions from the Elimination Match will face off in the finals.

✦ The finals play in a Best-of-Five (BO5) format.

Battlefield Map Update

1. Safe Zone

✦ The spawn spots and safe zones are on the upper left and lower right corner, respectively.

✦ Safe Zone Effects:

After the battle starts, both sides will be teleported to their respective safe zones, where they are invincible, can restore HP and SP, and are Silenced.

If the adventurers stay in the safe zone for over 20 consecutive seconds, the buffs will be replaced by [Vulnerable Countdown]. When the countdown ends, they can be targeted by the enemy in the safe zone.

If they leave the safe zone, they will receive a 6s [Safe Zone Cooldown] effect which prevents them from being protected by the safe zone effects.

The safe zone is deactivated in the last 30s of the battle for the two sides to engage each other in a showdown.

2. Pillars

✦ 8 small pillars are set on the periphery of the battlefield.

✦ 4 of the small pillars each have one obstacle building on their inner side, which the adventurers cannot go through.

✦ A large pillar is set in the middle of the battlefield.

Obstacle Building Schematic

Battle Preparations Update

1. Added Class Bonuses

✦ When the number of same-class battling adventurers is 2 or fewer, a party buff will be activated to offer the following effect:

When dealing direct damage to enemies (excluding DoT of Poison or damage from pets), attaches a signature mark to them which cannot be dispelled by Panacea or other effects. The mark can be attached again after a fixed period of time.

Each mark lasts for 3s. If the target does not take direct damage for the duration, the mark disappears. If they do, its duration is refreshed.

When the marks persist for 5s or longer and the stack reaches 6, Flame of Oblivion will be triggered: this effect will reduce the enemy's multiple defense-related stats. Meanwhile, for targets with over 60 million HP, the damage they receive scales up with their current HP (excluding True Damage).

✦ This effect lasts throughout the battle and is removed in the end. It can be activated again in the preparation for the next battle if the criteria are met.

✦ The same class means the name of the classes must be identical. For example, High Priest and Archbishop are regarded as 2 different classes even though they both belong to Acolyte category. Archbishop and Shura are obviously 2 different classes.

2. Added Load-out Switch

✦ [Load-out] Switch is added at the bottom of Preparation screen.

✦ It allows you to change classes and the Load-out under each class.

✦ You have 10 switch attempts in each game, including qualifiers, and BO3 and BO5 in elimination matches. Both changes to classes and load-out count toward the attempt count.

✦ There is a 60s cooldown after each class switch.

✦ Load-out cannot be switched in the last 10s before battle.

✦ Load-out cannot be switched during the battle, but you can still use your Backpack.

Battle Mechanism Update

1. Win and Lose

✦ The result is now determined by the scores of both sides. The side with a higher score wins unless any side surrenders.

✦ A party's score is the sum of all battling adventurers' scores.

✦ Points are earned by operating pillars and killing enemy adventurers.

✦ If there is a tie on the score, the party which deals higher total damage wins.

✦ If there is a tie on both score and damage dealt, the winner is determined randomly.

2. Battle Rebalanced

✦ When the adventurers are operating the pillars, they cannot be affected by any Endure or Immunity effect from other adventurers or items (including effects from class skills and cards).

✦ Lifesteal's effect, which refers to the final Lifesteal exceeding Damage Reflection, is reduced by 50%.

✦ The HP regeneration per 5s is reduced by 75%.

3. Pillars

✦ Activation Time:

When the battle progresses to the 30th second, 3 small pillars will be activated simultaneously.

When the battle progresses to the 2nd minute, another 3 small pillars will be activated simultaneously.

When the battle progresses to the 4th minute, the central large pillar will be activated.

A marquee notification appears when they are activated.

✦ Interaction Time:

10s after the pillars are activated, you can interact with them in the next 60s to operate them or prevent enemies from operating them.

The pillars you can interact with are marked on the minimap.

If the pillar is not operated during the interaction period, it will restore to the inactivated state.

✦ Operate Pillars

Once a adventurer moves to the vicinity of an interactable pillar, a button to operate it will appear at the bottom right of your screen.

It takes 5 seconds for a adventurer to complete operating the pillar, during which, that adventurer's debuff resistance drops.

The action is interrupted when that adventurer is controlled, moves or casts skills.

Surrender feature added

✦ Tap the Party Data > Surrender on the top left corner.

✦ When the remaining time is 3 minutes or shorter, any battling adventurer can initiate a surrender. The initiator votes to surrender by default.

✦ When the remaining time is shorter than 40 seconds, the surrender cannot be initiated.

✦ All the battling adventurers can choose to agree on or decline the surrender.

✦ Substitute adventurers cannot be part of the voting.

✦ Surrender initiation lasts 30 seconds. If there is only 1 or 0 adventurers who decline to surrender, the vote succeeds and the battle ends immediately. Otherwise, the battle continues. For example, 4 or more adventurers among the 5 battling adventurers agree on the surrender, the initiation succeeds.

✦ The surrender initiation has a 60-second cooldown.

Note: The class switch cooldown is not affected by the early ending caused by surrender. That means if a game ends before schedule, you still cannot switch classes if you have switched classes within 1 minute in the preparation stage.

Other Optimizations

1. Added Killing Streak Effect

✦ In the battle phase, a killstreak sound effect and broadcast will be triggered when a adventurer achieves a killstreak.

2. Detailed Results Screen

✦ The results also include the number of pillars operated, kills/ deaths/assists, DMG/DMG Taken/Healing.

3. Added MVP & SVP Titles in Each Game

✦ The one with the highest contribution on the winning side is MVP while the one on the losing side is SVP.

✦ If there is a tie in contribution, kills become the tie breaker. If kills are the same, damage becomes the tie breaker. If there is still a tie, the results are randomly decided.

✦ MVP and SVP are honorable titles which do not affect the scores and rewards.
